John Lyle Jerovsek Jr.

John L. Jerovsek Jr. of Grand Haven, age 57, passed away on February 4, 2016, after a battle with cancer.  John was born March 27, 1958, to John L. Jerovsek and Madge (Kool) Jerovsek.  A 1977 graduate of Grand Haven High School, Jerovsek earned eight varsity letters in track and cross country.  He then served in the US Navy, and earned a degree in culinary arts from Grand Rapids Junior College.  He worked for many years at Finish Corporation, and most recently at Seaver Finishing.  John was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 925 and the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28.  He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and kind heart.  In addition to his children and grandchildren, things that brought joy to John include playing games with his son, playing golf, and driving his ’67 Mustang in the Coast Guard Parade each summer. He is survived by his mother, sister Kathryne (Matthew) Olds and brothers Jeffrey (Michele) Jerovsek and Jack (Susan) Jerovsek.  He will be incredibly missed by his two children, Rose Jerovsek and Alan John Jerovsek, and grandchildren, Hope Jerovsek and Kensley Welsh. John is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father John L. Jerovsek, and nephew Robert Jack Jerovsek. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016, at 4:00 pm at Klaassen Family Funeral Home in Grand Haven.  Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service.  Memorial contributions can be made in John Jerovsek Jr.’s name to Grand Haven Area Community Foundation – Jerovsek Family Fund (designated to supporting the needs of area youth) or the American Legion in Grand Haven.
