Inez Ellen DeWitt, age 89 of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Freedom Village of Holland. Inez was born July 8, 1927 to Henry and Millie Frances (Gow) Rasmussen in Muskegon. She graduated from Muskegon High School, entering the workforce as a secretary at the close of World War II. Inez married Norman Robert DeWitt of Spring Lake Township on September 14, 1946 at First Reformed Church of Grand Haven. For most of their marriage they resided in their Grand Haven home.

Inez enjoyed her life-long love of family, neighbors and friends. With Norm, they raised their family and enjoyed a long active retirement together which included nature walks, gardening, social clubs, as well as domestic travel to all fifty states, all provinces of Canada, and foreign travel. Inez was a long-time active member of First Reformed Church, a volunteer school library aid, and a member of various social organizations in Muskegon and Grand Haven.

She is survived by her children: Gary (Toni Macon) DeWitt of Miami, FL and Kay (Terry) Moll of Holland, MI; grandchildren: Amy DeWitt of Muskegon, Erin Moll of Rockledge, FL, Jason Moll of Elmhurst, IL, and Sara (David) Gambrell of Louisville, KY; great-grandchildren Miriam and Noa. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Dorothy (Harold) Oppermann of Mason City, IA; and Mary DeWitt of Grand Haven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her son Mark; and sisters Margaret Smith and Lillian O’Donnell

The funeral for Inez will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Rev. Toni L. Macon officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10 – 11 am prior to the service. A private interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
