Jim "Mr. Baseball" Grevel, age 58, of Ferrysburg, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, December 18, 2017. Jim was born on May 24, 1959 in Muskegon, the son of Jack and Marva (DeYoung) Grevel. He graduated from Mona Shores High School and then attended Grand Valley and Ferris State Colleges where he was very active in the sports programs. Jim had been employed by Perfect Game covering the territory of South West Florida. He also worked with Coca-Cola bottling, Tyler Sales, and Lee County Parks and Recreation Department for many years. More recently, he was active at Extra Innings as well. Jim was involved with the Muskegon Clippers Club and was a founding member of the Lakeshore Baseball club that in 2010 helped with the restoration and renovations of Marsh Field, the historic home of Muskegon Baseball. Jim had a true passion for sports but more specifically, baseball, and he loved the relationships with the people he met through his active involvement in West Michigan Baseball. This true sportsman will be sadly missed by his father Jack (Char) Grevel; Jim's wife, Gina Warber Klugas; children, Jillian (Sam) Maniscalco, Connor Grevel, Nicholas (Whitney) Warber; grandchildren, Olive Maniscalco, Havleey and Harper Warber; sister, Deanna (Carl) Mokosak and 3 step-sisters, Kellie Norton, Robbin Coddens, Kim Wade and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Wagner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or James R. Grevel Memorial Fund.
