I am so sorry for your loss as I will always remember working with Russ at the Grand Haven Fire Station during the late 1980's. He was always easy going and an all around great guy.

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not meant to be.

With tearful eyes we watched you
As we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
Your Golden Heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us.
HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST.
The last words that we spoke to each other were "I Love You!" I am going to miss you so much. Thank you for being such a great husband, father, grandfather but most of all my amazing brother-in-law.
And a cure was not meant to be.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Russ. We remember him is a gentle, very unselfish man; giving of his time, many talents and treasure to many organizations. We always saw Christ in him. I'm so sorry Peaches! So enjoyed seeing you both in the grocery store a few weeks ago. I have lots of awesome memories of Russ at the fire barn when I was younger and of course the crazy things we all did working at the Tribune.
