I am so very sad to hear of this . . . a smile and face I have known for a very long time will never be around to greet me again. Becky, Richard, and Lillian. So sorry for your loss. I remember the days at the old YMCA playing basketball all day long. So many good memories over the years of TAZ. Just a beautiful person!

Played softball against Taz many moons ago for a lot of seasons. We had many lively competitive matches through the years. It seems his team won more of those matchups than mine, though not by too wide a margin. I especially hated that he always pulled his cap down low and covered his eyes. I couldn't stand not being able to see him looking at me when he was pitching. It is largely overlooked what a great basketball player he was as well, probably due to his size. But regardless whether it was a Rec League contest or a pickup game at the open gym, Taz could dominate the game with the ball in his possession like no other.

But despite being that fierce of a competitor, you couldn't find a man with a bigger heart. There will never be another quite like him. He will be missed by all who knew him. RIP Taz.

Dear Becky and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. He was a good friend to Bruce and I and i would like to think he felt the same way about us. He was there the day Bruce and i married and had a personal relationship with all three of our kids, who are saddened his death as well. I will forever miss his gentle soul, sense of humor, and teddy bear demeanor.

Grand Haven won't be Grand Haven without the Taz. He's been around forever and I loved running into him and chatting about the good ole days. I saw him last in the hospital with my husband and we had a few good laughs then. Going to miss you big guy!

Lillian, Becky and Richard, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. He was always one of the nicest guys I knew. He was my protector when I was young. Mine was one of many backs he had, he was a guy everyone could count on. Although I haven't seen him in years, I can still hear his laugh. Or when he did that funny thing where he would be laughing and then make his eyes go psycho, hilarious! Hell of a guy. I pray he now has peace. May peace be to you all in time.
