Harrell Loyd Satterfield

Harrell Loyd Satterfield, age 85 of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Grand Haven, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Harrell was born July 19, 1930 to Hubert and Millie (Matthews) Satterfield in Beedeville, Arkansas. Harrell proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Gloria Purdy on March 31, 1956. They recently celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage. Harrell lived most of his adult life in Grand Haven. He worked for Anderson Bolling for 36 years. Following his retirement, he and Gloria wintered in Sarasota, FL eventually making Sarasota their full time residence. Harrell’s hobbies included bowling and wood working. He loved the outdoors and all it had to offer; hunting, fishing and camping. He was not only a loving husband, but also a devoted father who found great joy in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harrell is survived by his wife, Gloria; children, Harrell “Hal” (Kathy) Satterfield Jr., Brian Satterfield, Annette (Robert “Bob”) Gardner, Dennis Satterfield, Carolyn Satterfield, Tina Michaels, Tony Satterfield, Claudia Davidson (Billy), John Satterfield, Missy Ordaz; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Armstrong; brother, Alton “Gene” (Mary Anne) Satterfield; brother-in-law, Garry Purdy; sister-in-law, Charyle (Charlie) Sandoval. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman Satterfield, James Satterfield and Kenneth Satterfield; sister, Norene Jacobs; brothers-in-law, David Jacobs and John Purdy and sister-in-law, Sandra Purdy. The funeral service for Harrell will be 11:00 am Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Stephen Abbott officiating. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
