My name is Norma Slayback, formally Norma Walters and I live in Lodi California.
My first husband Monty (who died in 1993) and I lived next door to Barb when she was 12 years old. We had a 9 month old son named Don and Barb became infatuated with him to the degree that she was at our apartment the minute she came home from school and spent hours with us becoming a part of our little family. She would take Don to play out in the snow or for walks down the street in his stroller. She was devastated when we moved to California when Don was 18 months old. Through the years, whenever we returned to Michigan with two additional children, we would always call Barb and she would be available to spend time with us and have fun with the kids. Don, Debi and Diane will always remember her for her fun and the time they spent with her. The last time I saw her, my husband Bob and I were staying in our motor home at the park in Grand Haven. I saw her name on her office door and I was so excited to see her again. She took us to her house on the lake and we caught up on all the mutual family information. She was so proud of her family and it was good to meet John again.
I found out about her death yesterday when my daughter, Debi, saw a post on Facebook from Sarah. I am so sorry that I did not know about her battle with cancer. I wish I could have reached out to her. I'm so sorry John and family for your loss. Barb was an incredible person from childhood on. She was strong, fun and caring, especially for those who were hurting. I loved her.

Dear John and the entire Crozier Family,

Thinking of all of you! I always enjoyed listening to John talk about Barb at work. I didn't really get to know Barb in person, but she was such an important part of my life as she was the social worker whom started my adoption from Korea many years ago! I remember calling your residence to ask to talk to John to get his permission to use his name for a job reference and Barb answered the phone. We must have talked for an hour. I will always remember her kindness and our conversation we had. May you all find comfort in all the fun and loving memories you all shared. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was saddened to see Barb's obituary in the GR Press today. She was a fun and challenging co-worker when I shared an office with her back when she was an adoptions worker. I enjoyed her immensely and valued her strong sense of caring for all children. Condolences to you, John & family.

Dear Crozier Family, Mrs Crozier was an amazing lady. She handled my sister and my adoptions to Jack and Melanie Aardema 43 years ago. I and my sister will never forget Mrs. C. and forever be in debt to her for finding us such wonderful parents. Rest In Peace Mrs. Crozier!
