Lawrence A. Reenders

Lawrence A. Reenders, age 87 of Grand Haven, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. Lawrence was born January 12, 1928 to Clarence and Angie (Fisher) Reenders in Grand Haven, MI. He married Jeanne Luurtsema on June 24, 1954 in Hudsonville, MI. Lawrence proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Lawrence worked as a local contractor and was the owner and partner of Reenders Blueberry Farms for 58 years, working alongside his children and grandchildren of whom he passed on the love for farming. He was a charter member of Hope Reformed Church where he served as chairman of the building committee, elder and deacon. Lawrence also volunteered for the Grand Haven Township Fire Department for over 40 years. In his leisure time, Lawrence enjoyed gardening and walking the beach at Marco Island. One of his many hobbies included collecting toy tractors and classic cars.  Lawrence will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne; daughter, Valerie (James) Loftis; son, Bruce (Karen) Reenders both of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Anje (Kyle) Crow, Joshua (Maricela) Loftis, Seth (Alicia), Kyle (Andrea), Luke (Parisa) Reenders; great-grandchildren, Carter & Ava Crow, Evan, Isabella & Kellan Loftis, Emma, Grace, Josiah and Keegan Reenders; brother, Kenneth (Shirley) Reenders; sister-in-law, Phyllis Reenders of Grand Haven; brothers-in-law, Bob (Sue) Luurtsema, Allen Luurtsema; special friends, Marv and Millie Grit. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred (Frank) Holzinger, brother, Marvin Reenders, parents, Clarence and Angie Reenders, in-laws, James and Marie Luurtsema. The funeral service for Lawrence will be 11:00 am Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Hope Reformed Church with Pastor Tim Taylor officiating. Full military rites will be performed by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.
