William Harry Sharp, age 81, went to be with his Heavenly Father, on Saturday, September 2, 2023, after a battle with Parkinson’s. He was born on February 22, 1942 in Bath, NY to Howard and Clara (Case) Sharp.
Bill graduated from Kenmore High School and went on to graduate from Ohio University. He proudly served as a Captain in the United States Air Force where he flew KC-135s and Huey helicopters in Vietnam. After his military service, Bill worked in the mortgage banking industry where he met his wife, Doreen J. Cover in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1983. At the time, Bill was Regional Vice President of the largest Savings and Loan in Arizona and Doreen was a Branch Manager on the savings side of the institution. Bill went on to work in the residential and commercial mortgage banking industry until his retirement.
He was a member of Kiwanis and Exchange Club and served as President of Exchange Club in Phoenix. Bill enjoyed being with his family, golfing, doing home improvements, and writing. Bill and Doreen attended Forest Park Covenant Church where he and Doreen belonged to their small group for many years. Bill authored a published novel, “Summer Warriors,” several screenplays, and a collection of short stories, “Flight of Four.” Bill is recognized in the Veterans Wall of Honor at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Doreen, of 40 wonderful years together; their sons, William Jr., Mark (Joanne) Cover, and John (Erica) Cover, four grandchildren: Elizabeth, Evelyn, Madison, and Carson; his sister, Nancy (Angelo) Cassaro; sister-in-law, Casiane; and niece, Carrie (Greg) Hollstein.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, John Sharp.
A Memorial Service for Bill will be held at a later date to be announced.
