William Lee Rodgers, age 77 of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 11, 1943 in Grand Haven, MI to the late William John and Esther Mae (Hintz) Rodgers. William married Kathleen Bolles on April 20, 1968 in Spring Lake, MI.
Bill graduated from Ferris State University in 1966 with a degree in pharmacy and worked at Hackley Hospital and Walgreens Pharmacy. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who helped start and organize the Off-Shore Fishing Tournament in Grand Haven, and was a board member of the Grand Haven Steel Headers Association. Bill enjoyed participating in the DNR Salmon in the Classroom Project in Ottawa County for many years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his five grandsons.
Bill will be remembered and missed by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Rodgers; daughter, Mari Rodgers of Grand Haven; son, John (Stephanie) Rodgers of Plymouth, WI; five grandsons: Triston Borgman, Wyatt, Jonah, Samuel, and Shane Rodgers; brothers, David (Carrie) Rodgers, Dale (Freda) Rodgers; sister, MaryAnn (Dale) VanderWall; in-laws, Marilyn (Jim) Yates, Albert (Mary Kay) Bolles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Cummings; and a nephew, Pastor Dan Cummings.
The Graveside Funeral Service for Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Spring Lake Township Cemetery with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association of Michigan or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
