Thomas John Nalley, age 88, of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on February 23, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Henry and Myra (Moore) Nalley. Tom married Lucia “Lucy” C. Aloisi on August 3, 1957, in New York City.

Tom graduated from high school in Iowa and then proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard working his way up to Captain of multiple ships from the 1950’s to 1979, including the Woodbine and Raritan based in Grand Haven, retiring as Captain of the Raritan.

He worked as Director of Purchasing at Shape Corp. for 25 years before his retirement and consulted with them for five years after. Tom was a well-respected and vital part of the purchasing department.

He was an avid shooter and expert marksman who received many awards for his shooting accuracy, holding memberships at the North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club, Muskegon Rod and Gun Club, and the National Rifle Association.

Tom enjoyed skiing in Colorado and golfing in many golf leagues. He was a supporter of Grand Haven High School Sports, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their various sports. Tom loved traveling to Hawaii and living in various places while serving in the Coast Guard.
