Susan Marie (Brown) Strazanac

Susan Marie Strazanac, age 75 of West Olive, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at a local care facility. She was born on November 13, 1948 in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Charles and Loretta (Gallagher) Brown. Susan married David Strazanac on June 7, 1969, in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2023, after 53 years of marriage.

Susan graduated from Grand Haven High School and went on to work for the Ottawa County District Court for 20 years, previously working at Pierless Novelty. She was a woman of strong faith and attended St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Parish, later becoming a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Holland.

In her younger years, Susan enjoyed bowling on leagues in Holland and at Starlite Lanes in Grand Haven, and she enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland. She was a big Elvis fan who had an extensive collection of Elvis memorabilia and was always excited to tell the story of when she took a trip to Graceland. Susan also collected owls and loved to spend time with her best friend, Charlene Robison.

Susan will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Rebecca Hilgeman of Grand Haven; two beloved grandchildren, Dylan Hilgeman (and his father, Gary) and Haley Hudson; brothers, David (Christine) Brown and Jerry Brown; brothers-in-law, Robert Strazanac and Greg (Donna) Strazanac; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lori; and sister-in-law, Mary Brown.

The Funeral Mass for Susan will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Holland with Fr. Michael Burt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lady Knights of Columbus or Corewell Hospice.
