Susan Kay (Klaassen) Morton was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully at Melech Hospice House on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Sue was born on October 28, 1945, in Grand Haven, MI to the late Pete and Nina (Casemier) Klaassen. She has been a long-time resident of Florida, where she met and married her true love, Al Morton.
Sue graduated from Grand Haven High School and enjoyed a fulfilling career in business. For many years, she was employed with Bright House Network in Florida, where she retired as the collection’s supervisor. One of her greatest joys came from spending time with her family. Her granddaughters, who lovingly called her, “Beba,” were one of the most important parts of her life. Whether they were traveling, shopping, involved in school activities, or playing soccer, she was always there for them. Sue also looked forward to her annual summer trips to visit her hometown and family in Grand Haven.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Morrison of Knoxville, TN, and Melissa (Nick) Meeker of Lutz, FL; her two granddaughters, Emily Meeker and Meghan Meeker, both of Lutz, FL; her loving dog and companion, Jasmine; two brothers, David (Sandy) Klaassen of Grand Haven and Dann (Sharon) Klaassen of Grand Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Al Morton; and her parents.
A Celebration of Sue’s Life will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at “The Studio” at Carrollwood Cultural Center, 13345 Casey Rd., Tampa, FL, 33618.
Memorial Contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Tampa Bay or to Harbor Humane Society in Grand Haven.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Discovery Village at Tampa Palms and Melech Hospice House for their care and compassion.
