Susan Angela Carlson

Susan Angela Carlson, age 87, of Spring Lake, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Heartwood Lodge, Spring Lake. She was born on December 9, 1937, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Walter and Evelyn (Melnotte) Carlson. Susan married Haywood Brickey in 1955, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2002.
 

Susan graduated from Grand Haven High School and was a life-long resident of Grand Haven. She worked at the People's Bank & Trust for 20 years and owned and operated Personalized Prints in downtown Grand Haven, where she created customized t-shirts and embroidering.

Susan was a former member of Resurrection Life Church and Lakeshore Baptist Church. She loved her family and cherished the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren. She loved to take pictures of lighthouses to use in her business, and she loved the beach and taking long walks on the boardwalk.

Susan will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Stephanie (Allan) Keur of Grand Haven, and Kathy (Jeff) Richard of West Olive; two sons, Mark Brickey of Holland, and Jon Brickey (Heather Danielkiewicz) of Plainwell, MI; her six beloved grandchildren: Kelsey and Hayley Keur, Issac Brickey, and Bianca, Carra, and Jeffrey Richard; and her great-granddaughter, Sophia Richard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood; and her two brothers, Stephen and Jon Carlson.
 

The Memorial Service for Susan will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
