Sherrye Lynn (Moore) Vertregt

Sherrye Lynn Vertregt, age 76 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. She was born on February 22, 1947, in Fort Lewis, Tacoma, WA, to the late Garland and Cleo (Barnes) Moore. Sherrye married Carl Vertregt on April 6, 1973 in Okinawa, Japan.

Sherrye moved from Fremont to Grand Haven in 1992. She was a longtime member of Second Christian Reformed Church where she served as deaconess. Sherrye was an avid reader who also enjoyed crocheting, especially baby blankets. In her younger years, she loved to play golf and tennis, and enjoyed being a member of the Fremont Ski Club.

Sherrye will be lovingly remembered and missed by her beloved husband of 50 years, Carl; and their two daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Grathen of Sheboygan, WI, and Elizabeth (Jeff) Englert of Nunica, MI; three grandchildren: Megan Hug, Linsey DeMaster, and Brendon (Samantha) Veldbloom; three sisters: Patricia (Bill) Talbot, Vicki (Dan) Thorne, and Jacki (Ed) Bell; and her brother-in-law, Bob Evans.

She was preceded in death by her son, Garland Vertregt; great-grandson, Ryder Greyson; and sister, Judy Evans.

The Funeral Service for Sherrye will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Second Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. David Zuidema, Pastor Tim Blackmon, and Rev. Canon Kimberley Pfeiler officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church, as well as after the service.
