Shelly Ruth (Stern) Beck

Mrs. Shelly Ruth Beck, age 78 of Grand Haven (formerly of Spring Lake), passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020. She was born April 11, 1942 in Detroit, MI to the late Julius and Rose (Zolkower) Stern. Shelly married Sheldon H. Beck on October 20, 1963 in Detroit, MI and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1995.

Shelly graduated from Mumford High School in Detroit and attended the University of Michigan. She ultimately obtained her undergraduate degree from Wayne State University and her MBA from Grand Valley State University. Shelly moved from Detroit to Grand Rapids in 1970, and then moved to Spring Lake in 1978.

She worked in marketing for many years at North Ottawa Community Hospital. Shelly was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, a member of AAUW and Counterpart, and the Stitcher’s Group. She especially loved gardening, boating, antiques, and being with her dogs.

Shelly is lovingly remembered and survived by her three sons, William (Claudia) Beck, Adam Beck (fiancée, Angie), and Christopher (Heidi) Beck all of Spring Lake; seven grandchildren: Elisabeth, Nicholas, Liam, Alexander, Michael, Megan, and Nathan; and her brother, Mark Stern of Spring Lake.

The Graveside Service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Lake Forest Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Jared C. Cramer officiating.
