Shawnlyn “Shawnie” Stong, age 46 of Grand Haven, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 30, 2021. She was born on September 30, 1974 in Grand Haven, MI to James and Karen Sue (Sullivan) Walsh. Shawnlyn married Jeffrey R. Stong on May 20, 1995 in Twin Lake, MI.
Shawnlyn lived in Grand Haven most of her life, having previously lived in Virginia Beach, VA and University City, MO for a short time. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to her two children while they were growing up, and she and Jeffrey were loving parents who were very involved in their children’s lives. Shawnlyn was a member of the Gateway Church, and she enjoyed her home life, tending to the house and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Shawnlyn is lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 25 years, Jeffrey; her daughter, Meghan Stong of Muskegon; and son, James (Allison) Stong of Grand Haven; grandson, William James Thomas Stong; granddaughter, Adeline Jean Stong; her father, James Walsh; sister, Shannon (Dr. Robert) Young of Brookfield, WI; several nieces, and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Walsh; and parents-in-law, Irene and Ronald Stong.
A Memorial Service for Shawnlyn will be held at a later date to be announced.
