Sharon Lee Richmond, age 74 of Grand Haven, went to be with the Lord, with her family by her side, at home on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. She was born on January 26, 1947 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Donald and Sarah (Timmers) Osterink. Sharon married William Jay Richmond on August 4, 1967 at Zion Reformed Church in Grandville, MI.
Sharon graduated from Grandville High School and most recently worked at Younkers in sales. Prior to this, she was General Merchandise Manager at Save-A-Lot, Deli Manager at Rich’s Food Market, and Nurse’s Aide at Blodgett Hospital. Her best job ever, according to Sharon, was running “Grandmother’s Daycare,” where she took care of her grandchildren, and several other children.
Sharon was a long-time member of Second Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School to four and five year-olds, and was known as their “Grandma Teacher.” She was also the Decoration Chairman for 8 years. Sharon enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter months, and she loved sewing, knitting, crafting, and baking.
Sharon left a very special thank you to her neighbors, special friends, and knitting group for the great times and many laughs they all had together.
Sharon is lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 53 years, Bill Richmond; her loving daughters, Traci (Doug) Boon of Spring Lake, Brenda (Louie) Paras of Eastpointe, MI; loving son, Dennis (Missy) Richmond of Hudsonville, MI; beloved grandchildren: Joel (Amanda), Morgan and Caleb Boon, Michael, Alec, and Melia Paras, Avery and Emerson Richmond; great-granddaughter, Penny Reenders; her siblings, Don (Marcia) Osterink, Nancy (Craig) Doornbos, Gary (Barb) Osterink, and Brian (Marilee) Osterink; and brother and sister in-laws, Carol Richmond, Tom Richmond (Nancy Kablitz), Nancy Kik, and Sally (Don) Cook.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Jim Richmond.
The Funeral Service for Sharon will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Second Reformed Church with Pastor Lary Jackson officiating. Visitations will be held on Sunday, February 7th, from 2 to 5 p.m., and Monday, February 8th, one hour prior to the service at the church, both in the Family Life Center at the church. Masks and Social Distancing will be required at all services. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
