Sharon Elizabeth (McCarthy) Camp

Sharon Elizabeth Camp, age 87 of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. She was born on May 13, 1935 in Grand Haven, MI, to the late George and Marie (Moll) McCarthy. Sharon married Melvin Camp on June 18, 1955 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2022, after 66 years of marriage.

Sharon graduated from Grand Haven High School and worked as an office manager for an insurance company for many years before her retirement. She was a long-time member of St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Parish, and enjoyed doing ceramics, going to the cabin in the U.P., four-wheeling, and enjoying the beauty of Northern Michigan. Sharon and her husband, Melvin, loved hiking the desert while wintering in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Sharon is lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Dawn (Tim) Holland of Custer, SD; her two sons, Greg (Maria) Camp of Grand Haven and David (Lori) Camp of Concord, NC; step-daughter, Becky (Dave) Buhman of Ackley, IA; six grandchildren: Sarah Carter, Garret Holland, and Melody, Christopher, Kirill, and Evan Camp; three great-grandchildren; Madison Torrenga, Ethan Camp, and Alexis Carter; sisters-in-law, Joan McCarthy, Anielia “Sweetie” Wilson, Kathleen Holmberg, and Patricia Camp; and brother-in-law, Ronald (Francie) Camp.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, and five brothers.

The Memorial Mass for Sharon will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Parish with Fr. Charles Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children c/o Love to the Rescue.
