Sandra Jean Beute, age 89, of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Grand Pines Assisted Living. She was born on September 19, 1935, in Grand Haven, MI, the daughter of Clark and Beatrice (Brinkert) Hagstrom. Sandy married Harvey Beute on April 30, 1988, in Grand Haven, and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2019, after 30 years of marriage.
Sandy graduated from Grand Haven High School and attended a few years of college. She then worked for Kirks Camera Shop in Grand Haven before beginning her career as an administrative assistant for the Ottawa County Sheriff's Dept. Office. She then worked in the front office at School Zone for many years before her retirement in 1999.
Sandy was a former member of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes, and more recently, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven.
Sandy served as former Den mother for the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed golfing, reading, sewing, and most importantly, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved living on the Bayou and took solace in being surrounded by all the nature that comes with living there. She was there for everyone when in need and had a heart of gold.
Sandy will be lovingly remembered and missed by her five children: Rita (Stevens) Wharton-Bickley, Bruce (Robin) Bowditch, Heather (Aaron) Lowe, Staci (Bryant) Christensen, and Matthew Beute; 10 grandchildren: Steele, Cole, Chase, Cory, Olivia, Mallory, Gray, Jeffrey, Charlie, Jonah; her sister, Linda Dawson; brother, Ronald (Patricia) Hagstrom; and brother-in-law, Richard (Carrol) Beute.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Duane Bowditch in 2013.
A Visitation for Sandy's family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. A private family Graveside Service will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Troy Hauser Brydon officiating.
