Sally L. (Walwood) Kline

Sally L. Kline, age 89 of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at a local care facility. She was born on September 28, 1933 in Allendale, MI to the late James and Clara (VandePanne) Walwood. Sally married Vernon C. Kline on July 9, 1954 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2013, after 58 years of marriage.

Sally grew up in Robinson Township and graduated from Grand Haven High School. She was a life-long resident of the Tri-Cities. Her first job was at Felix’s working at the Dairy Bar, and she also worked at Sears and Verplank’s, then becoming a homemaker. She was a wonderful mother and loved her boys endlessly. Later on, she had her own cleaning business and had many loyal clients who became close friends. 

Sally loved to cook and bake and was well known for her famous “Aunt Sally’s Cheesecakes.” She catered many special events and baked her delicious cheesecakes for all kinds of celebrations for family, friends, and clients.   

Sally will be lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren: Lauren (Luke) Novak, Ryan Kline, and Christie Kline; brother, Jim (Elizabeth) Walwood; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and her three sons: David Kline (2019), Richard Kline (2011), and Jeff Kline (2006); her beloved grandson, Zachary Kline (2011); sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Mike Vrablic; and her two brothers, Robert and William Walwood.

A Memorial Visitation for Sally will take place on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
