Ronald "Ron" James Ferguson, age 76, of Spring Lake, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Newaygo County Compassion Home. He was born on January 30, 1950, in Detroit, MI, to the late Donald and Virginia (VanAkker) Ferguson. Ron married Jean Lee McCully on September 5, 1969, in Detroit.
Ron graduated from Redford High School in Detroit and then attended both Muskegon Community College and Eastern Michigan University. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and was an active member of St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Parish for many years.
Ron worked as a telecommunication specialist for GTE/AT&T for many years before his retirement. In his retirement, Ron worked for the Muskegon Heights Branch of the Muskegon Area District Library.
Ron was an avid golfer who was a fan of all Michigan sports teams, including the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and U of M. Throughout the years, he even coached many local sports teams in various sports.
Ron enjoyed going on his casino "Blackjack" trips, watching old movie classics, and distributing gifts and food baskets for the annual White Lake Giving Tree. He especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in all their activities and sports.
Ron is forever remembered and missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean; his three daughters: Deborah Ferguson-Fitch (Adam Fitch), Dana (Clayton) Darrow, and Darci Ferguson; his two sons, Ronald (Janelle) Ferguson and Randall (Lauren) Ferguson; nine grandchildren: Summer and Courtney Darrow, Jordan Bledsoe, Ryan, Joey, Collin, Lucas, Charlotte, and Reese Ferguson; and two sisters, Joan (Thomas) Esposito and Noreen Ferguson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jon and Donald Ferguson.
The Memorial Mass for Ron will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at St. Patrick Church of St. Patrick - St. Anthony Parish, with Fr. Dan Schumaker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Corewell Health Foundation-Hospice or Newaygo County Compassion Home.
