Ronald Stewart Thier, age 77 of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. Ron was born May 30, 1943 in Central Lake, MI to Vincent and Charlotte (Waffel) Thier.
He attended Central Lake High School and went on to proudly serve our country in the US Army from 1965 to 1967. Upon his return to the United States, Ron met and married Jackie Wood on July 6, 1967 in East Jordan, Michigan.
Ron was a career sheet-metal fabricator at Structural Concepts and retired in 2019, after 41 years of service. He was a big NASCAR fan and enjoyed working on older cars, gardening, playing his guitar and singing a tune, and watching TV. He was also a former member of the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post #2326 of Grand Haven.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Jackie; his daughter, Jodie Dashner of Muskegon; his three sons, Ronald Thier, Jr., Robert Thier, and Chuck Thier, all of Muskegon; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Gwen Kingsley, Sheila Roberts, Sue Barnum, Zelda Douglas, Shirley Brace, Clint Thier, and Rodney Their; and siblings-in-law, Travis and Barry Kubler, and Margie Martin.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Thier in 1993; sister, Gail Kingsley; and brother-in-law, Bill Wood.
The Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Lake Forest Cemetery. Masks and Social Distancing will be required.
