Ronald Johnson Obituary

Ronald Roy Johnson, age 64 of Holland, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at home. He was born on August 6, 1956 in Muskegon, MI to the late Roy J. and Donna M. (Halpin) Johnson.

Ron graduated from Orchard View High School and went on to proudly serve his country as an M-16 sharp-shooter in the US Army from 1975 to 1978, during the Vietnam War Era. He spent most of his time stationed in Wurzburg, Germany during his time in the military.

Ron worked at Lifesavers Candy in Holland for 23 years, until the company moved to Canada in 2002. He then worked as an E.M.T for a short time, followed by Macatawa Transit in Holland up until his retirement. Ron was a member of the Brothers United Motorcycle Club in Holland for many years and he enjoyed being out on the open road, riding his Police Edition Harley Road King.

He loved music and was an avid collector of vintage tube amps and guitars. Ron was also a classic car enthusiast, owning several throughout the years. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, going to rock concerts, and target practicing. Ron loved his family and had a soft spot in his heart for kids; he especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Ron is lovingly remembered by his seven sisters, June Kirkconnell, Gloria Hebert, Peggy Jensen, Nancy Riley, Cathie Battaglia, Sally Gauthier, and Sharon (Stan) Balkema; three brothers, Roy, Gary, and Bruce Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Lee Johnson who was killed in Vietnam; and his sister, Pamela Kay Johnson.

A Celebration of Life for Ron will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Brothers United Motorcycle Clubhouse (645 Commerce Court, Ste. 50, Holland, MI 49424).
