Ronald Kent Ferrell, age 80 of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 in Holland. He was born on August 30, 1942 in Bedford, IN to the late John and Rebecca (Payne) Ferrell. Ron married Alyse Northedge on November 10, 2002, and she preceded him in death on November 15, 2022, after 20 years of marriage.
Ron graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1961 and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army from 1962 to 1972, and then the US Navy from 1972 to 1985, seeing combat during the Vietnam War. He was never more at ease than when he was spending time with other Veterans who so proudly served this country.
Ron attended Ridgepoint Church in Holland for many years, and worked as a Finance Manager for Betten Auto Center in Grand Haven, and Leco Finance in St. Joseph, MI.
Ron enjoyed golfing, traveling with Alyse, including their favorite vacation spot of Hawaii many times. As a NASCAR fan, Ron was able to attend races across the county. Camping at the racetracks during race week with his group of race friends was something he looked forward to each summer. Ron loved to spend time with his many grandchildren, watching them grow and succeed throughout the years.
Ron is lovingly remembered and missed by his two daughters, Melissa (Collin) Beighley of Grand Haven and Megan Ferrell of Saline, MI; and two sons, Michael (Julie) Ferrell of Avon Lake, OH and Matthew (Dana) Ferrell of Portage, MI; step-children: Julianne (Bart) Brummans of Grand Haven, Sue Ann (Gregg) Brouwer of Hamilton, MI, Jana (Dale) Berens of Zeeland, MI, Roger Olthof of Holland, MI, and Todd (Lisa) Olthof of Norton Shores, MI; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Luanne (Russ) Brown and David (Kathy) Ferrell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alyse; brother, Chris Ferrell; and step-daughter, Kimberly Olthof.
The Graveside Service for Ron will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Lake Forest Cemetery. Full Military Honors to be performed by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28.
