Roger L. Bosman, age 89 of Grand Haven, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 18, 2022 at North Ottawa Community Hospital. He was born on February 18, 1933 in Holland, MI to Bernard and Marie (Bouman) Bosman. Roger married Janet Moore on September 29, 1956 in Milwaukee, WI. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2013.
Roger Graduated from Holland High School and went on to spend a 20 year career in the United States Air Force, where he traveled to England, France, and Turkey, working in search and rescue much of the time.
Roger and Janet were members of North Holland Reformed Church prior to moving to Grand Haven in 1993, later joining Hope Reformed Church. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Roger worked for Parke-Davis for 20 years before he retired at the age of 60 to enjoy more of his hobbies and interests.
Roger was a farmer at heart and could often be found working his acreage on the north side of Holland. He spent a lot of time on the water and enjoyed living by the river, using his boat to travel around the great lakes, and going out fishing often. Roger was also an active member of Coast Guard City Sams' camping group, and often was the host at many campgrounds around the area.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326, and the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Roger enjoyed painting and was a good artist. He and Janet enjoyed being the coordinators and operators of Holland's Art in the Park for many years.
Roger is survived by his children, Cheryl (Rick) Mifflin, Jean (Mark) DeWall, Ruth Minkler, Scott (Oksana) Bosman, Paul (Michelle) Bosman, and Randy Bosman; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Calvin (Evelyn) Bosman; brother-in-law, Jerry Smith; several nieces and nephews; and his dear companion and friend later in life, Doris Earl.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; two sisters, Barbara and Norma; son-in-law, Gary Minkler; and his grandson, Buster.
The Funeral Service with full Military Honors for Roger will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Hope Reformed Church with Pastor Tim Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Holland.
