Robert “Bob” Gerald Lintjer, Jr., age 71 of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Mercy Hospital, after a long-time battle with cancer. He was born on December 2, 1949 in Muskegon, MI to Robert G. and Dorothy (Westra) Lintjer, Sr.
Bob played football for and graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1968. He went on to play football for Western Michigan University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education. He then taught for Fruitport Community Schools, and later, took his love of football and put it to good use, coaching for both Grand Haven High School and Flint Southwestern Academy Varsity Football teams.
Bob was a long-time member and familiar face of the Grand Haven Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 925 where he served as Past Worthy President and long-time volunteer, most recently serving as Treasurer. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 28, which he helped start 22 years ago.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Eagles, staying active and fit, walking along the Pier, and watching the Grand Haven Sunsets. He will be greatly missed by his family, his Eagles family and many friends.
Bob is remembered and missed by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Lintjer of Grand Haven; his wife, Annarella; his son, Rob Lintjer, III of Grand Haven; sisters, Barb (Dan) Barlass and Kim (Darrell) Myers; brothers, Steve and Ted Lintjer; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Grand Haven Eagles at a later date to be announced.
