Robert Cruz, age 65 of Grand Haven, was called home to God on October 31, 2018 at his home. He was born January 31, 1953 in San Antonio, TX to Mariaelisa (Macias) Cruz.
Robert attended Hazel Park High School, and then went on to Kirkland Community College and Michigan State University. He worked for the State of Michigan Family Independence Agency as a translator until he retired in 2006.
He loved spending time with his children, family, and friends. He also enjoyed watching movies, working on computers, playing guitar, and restoring cars with his brother Eddie.
Robert was a proud ordained minister, who served at Mount Zion Temple of Auburn Hills, MI. He loved talking about God with others, and eagerly spread the word of Jesus. He was a servant to those in need, often times helping others before himself. Robert always carried an optimistic outlook on life, deeply rooted in his faith of the Lord. He was very passionate, loyal, and an all-around jokester who cared about others up to the moment God brought him to his home in Heaven.
Robert will always be remembered and missed by the lives he touched with love and generosity throughout the years. He will forever be carried in the hearts of his family; daughters, Angela Cruz and Shavannah (Jason Kincaid) Davis-Cruz; son, Calvin Davis-Cruz; mother of Calvin and Shavannah, Gail Bodine; mother, Mariaelisa (Macias) Cruz; brothers, Eddie Fields, Charles Lawson, Steve Lawson; sisters, Elisa Vargas and Dominga (Minga) Vargas; and dear family friend, Lhonda Kooi.
