Richard “Rich” Muskovin, Sr. Obituary

Richard “Rich” David Muskovin, Sr., age 72 of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully at home and into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 25, 2021 after a health battle he endured with incredible courage. Rich was born on February 6, 1948 in Muskegon, MI to Andrew and Mary Jane (Griffin) Muskovin. Rich married the love of his life, Jodie Ann Hudson, on December 12, 1980 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Grand Haven.

Rich graduated from Muskegon High School, Class of 1967. In high school, Rich was a roller speed-skater who competed in many competitions throughout Michigan, and held the record for the Senior Men’s 5-mile Single State Championship in 1966 and 1967. In Rich’s youth, he continued with his love for roller-skating by attending the Beach Bashes at the Grand Haven Roller Rink, and later worked as their floor guard. He was also on the Muskegon High School Cross Country team.

Rich worked as a tanner for Eagle Ottawa Leather Co. for 39 years before his retirement. He was a 4th Degree Black Belt and Karate Instructor at Villalpando Martial Arts in Muskegon for many years. Rich enjoyed hunting on his property and attending local classic car shows. His interest in classic cars led him to purchase a 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition White Corvette.

Most importantly, Rich loved spending time with his family.  He loved cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and was their biggest and proudest fan. Being around his children and grandchildren meant everything to Rich, and he cherished the time he spent with them. He was a charming, generous, outgoing man who was a hard worker and enjoyed his retirement. He was a loyal friend and a devoted, dedicated and loving family provider and husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Rich will be deeply missed by his wife, Jodie Muskovin of Grand Haven; his son, Dave (Danielle) Muskovin II of Muskegon, MI; his daughter, Becky (Chris) Wright of Clio, MI; eight grandchildren: Alexis, Ethan, Bryce, Connor, Kyle, Kalven, Zachary, and Brooke; four great grandchildren: Isabelle, Oliver, Mateo, and Bentley; sister-in-law, Sue Muskovin; nieces, Cindy, Ginger, and Kimberly; and many cousins, extended family members, and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and their husbands, Rosemary (Lee) Radford and Darlene (Gene) Craze; his brother, Larry Muskovin; and in-laws, Beverly and Donald Hudson.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation or the  American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post #28 Honor Guard.
