Richard “Dick” E. Morgan, Jr., 81, of Grand Haven, passed away at home on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, surrounded by his family. Richard E. and Aurora (Matthews) Morgan, Sr. welcomed him into the world on March 18, 1943, in Bay City, MI. On January 23, 1965, Dick married Mary La Mere in Essexville, Michigan.
Dick spent his career working as a State Trooper for the Michigan State Police, retiring in 1993 after 27 years of service. Dick was a dedicated community servant and leader. Whether it was building homes, helping with landscaping, or working on projects in his shed, he would be the first to volunteer to help his family and neighbors. He was a pillar of reliability and a shining example of outstanding character through his selfless acts of generosity and dependability.
Dick loved playing softball with friends, cycling with family, and snowmobiling wherever the trails would take him. He enjoyed it so much that he traversed the entirety of the Upper Peninsula on his sled. His favorite hobby, however, was showing his appreciation for his family, lifelong friend Robert Spegel, and hometown - all of whom he so deeply cherished.
Having just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, Dick's wife will always remember and miss him. They had four beautiful children: Michael (Karin) Morgan, Anne Morgan, Steven (Marlo) Morgan, and Kevin Morgan; eight wonderful grandchildren: Jared, Justin, Jessica, Jeremy, Jason, Jordan, Kailey and Lauren; and sisters, Connie (Jack) Taylor and Shirley (Dale) Nixon.
Dick's Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Morgan residence.
The Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery will serve as the final resting place.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association-Michigan or Trinity Health at Home Hospice-Grand Haven.
