Richard "Dick" Wilmont Grimminck, age 90, of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1935, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late Joseph and Inas (Ardrey) Grimminck. Dick married Doreen Marie Williams on June 16, 1967, in Arizona. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2022, after 54 years of marriage.
Dick graduated from the former South High School in Grand Rapids. He went on to proudly serve his country in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957, during the Korean Conflict Era. He then obtained his bachelor's degree in education from Ferris State University, and later, graduated with his master's degree from University of Arizona. He worked as a high school chemistry teacher for his entire career, retiring from Fruitport Public Schools after 32 years of service.
Dick was a proud member of the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28 and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed traveling, hunting, and fishing; especially pan fishing and trout fishing the streams. Dick was also an avid swimmer who swam at least three times a week.
Dick will be forever remembered and missed by his two daughters, Cynthia Grimminck (Daniel Garfias) of Snellville, GA, and Cory (Richard Bates) Grimminck of Lansing, MI; his beloved grandson, Sebastian Bates; three brothers: Michael (Debbie), Gerald (Carol), and James (Lillian) Grimminck; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doreen; and brother, Ron Grimminck.
The Memorial Service for Dick will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Fr. Dan Schumaker officiating. Full Military Honors to be provided by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Grand Haven Salvation Army or the American Heart Association of West Michigan.
