Rebecca “Becky” Joan (Phillips) Heeres

Rebecca “Becky” Joan Heeres, age 74, of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at a local care facility. She was born on February 17, 1950, in Saginaw, MI, to the late Kenneth and Jeanette (Leiss) Phillips. Becky married Vernon Heeres on February 7, 1970, in Chesaning, MI.

Becky graduated from Chesaning High School. She moved to Grand Haven in 1971 and retired from Michigan Gas Utilities after 30 years of service. Becky loved reading and traveling, which she did extensively throughout the years. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling with her lady friends in a league at Starlite Lanes for many years. Most importantly, Becky loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Becky will be lovingly remembered and missed by her beloved husband of 54 years, Vern; her daughter, Shannon Shalifoe of Muskegon; and son, Michael Heeres of Henderson, Nevada; grandchildren: Jeremy Heeres, Dustin (Megan) Shalifoe, Courtney Shalifoe; great-grandchildren, Zoey & Wesley Shalifoe; brother, Dewey Krizan; sisters-in-law, Sandra Krizan, Reta (Ron) Zielinski, and Marilyn (Terry) Benkert; brothers-in-law, David (Donna) Heeres and Roger (Marlene) Heeres; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers: Edward, Skip, Gordon (Jean), and James Philips.

The Memorial Service for Becky will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Jessica Hamlet officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
