Raymond Henry Ribbink, age 88, of Grand Haven, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at home. He was born on November 22, 1936, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late James and Anna (VanDongen) Ribbink. Ray married June Perkins on March 28, 1959, in Lemon Springs, NC.
Ray graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1954. He went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. Ray then spent his career working for Consumers Energy, which he retired from.
Ray was a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years and was a long-time member of the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28. He was currently serving as Past Commander, Building and Grounds Chairman, Goodfellows - Crusade for Toys Chairman, as well as a member of the Honor Guard. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 925.
Ray was a tireless individual, always on the move. Whether meticulously caring for the American Legion's building and grounds, splitting wood alongside his family, or tending to his yard, he poured countless hours into physical activity. He and June traveled the entire continental United States. He found pleasure in the simple act of fishing for bluegill and generously shared his catch by hosting fish-fry's. In his younger days, he was an avid bowler.
Ray will be forever remembered and missed by many, including his beloved wife of 66 years, June; and their three sons: Ronald (Gail Brye) Ribbink, Kenneth (Devon) Ribbink, and Andrew Ribbink; three grandchildren: Erin (Alex Roemer) Ribbink, Drew (Emily) Ribbink, and Daniel (Mackenzie) Ribbink; sister-in-law, Faye (Ed) Kilmon; brother-in-law, William (Pat) Perkins, Jr.; and several nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Ribbink.
The Funeral Service for Ray will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Troy Hauser Brydon officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
