Ralph Brooks Obituary

Ralph Dean Brooks, age 88 of Grand Haven, MI passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon, MI. He was born on April 9, 1934, in Tazewell, TN to the late Thomas H. and Ida Mae (Richardson) Brooks. Ralph married Noreen Kratt on March 5, 1987, in Chicago, IL.

Ralph graduated from Monroe High School, and then Muskegon Community College. He worked for Consumers Energy for 34 years prior to his retirement. Ralph had his private pilot’s license and he enjoyed building and flying his own plane.

He was an avid woodworker, making many hand-crafted pieces over the years that he gifted to family and friends. Ralph was also an exceptional handy-man who could construct and/or fix almost anything. He loved to be outside working in the yard and enjoying nature. Until recently, he took daily 4 to 6 mile walks around town for many years

Ralph will be remembered and missed by his wife of 35 years, Noreen; his daughters; Robyn Brooks of Grand Haven and Vicki Brooks of Jackson, MI; his son, Randy (Mary) Brooks of Breckenridge, CO; as well as Noreen’s sons; Mike (Kathy) Kratt, Dave Kratt,  Gary (Gail) Kratt, and Kevin (Jaimie) Kratt; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Reaume and Patsy (Ed) Martell; brothers, Grover (Debra) Brooks and Bob Brooks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; Gladys, Dora, and Vera; and three brothers; Oscar, Thomas, and Shelby.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
