Phillip” Phil” Kline Leach, age 78, of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was born on September 7, 1946, in Greenville, MI, to the late Leo and Christine (Puffpaff) Leach. Phil married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Stearns on June 4, 1965.
Phillip graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1964. He attended Grand Valley State University and proudly served his country in the US Army from 1966 to 1968, during the Vietnam War Era.
Phil was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting Deer and Turkey. He enjoyed shooting black powder rifles and looked forward to the local bi-annual competitions. On the surface, he appeared gruff and grizz to many, yet to his family, he was a loving father and grandfather who would do anything for the people he cared about. Phil cherished most the time he spent with is grandsons. He had a lighthearted demeanor, and his keen wits were quick to produce a joke that would make most crack a smile.
Phil will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon; and their two children, Jennifer (Jason) Locascio and Eric (Dana) Leach; three grandsons: David Petersch, Elija Locascio, and Noah Locascio; two sisters, Kay Leach and Dorene (Wilbur) Matthews; brother-in-law, Randy (Judy) Stearns; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dennis and Billy Leach; as well as his longtime friend and hunting partner, Harold Clover.
