Patsy "Pat" Mae Fojtik, age 89, of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Lakeshore Assisted Living. She was born on July 11, 1936, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Herbert and Frances (Boomgaard) Hierholzer.
Pat graduated from Grand Haven High School Class of 1954. In 1972, she graduated from Hackley School of Nursing with her RN degree and began her career working as a Registered Nurse for North Ottawa Community Hospital until her retirement in 1998. After retirement, Pat worked at a local voting poll and Joyful Noise Daycare until 2000.
Pat was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she served as counter and was a member of the handbell choir. She was also a member of several philanthropic organizations including: Practical Nurses, Michigan Registered Nurses, Reach for Recovery of America, and the American Cancer Society. Pat also served on the Lake Forest Cemetery board for a few years and played the drum for the Prevailing Winds Band for a few years.
Pat enjoyed traveling, attending parades, cheeseburgers, lighthouses, band music, and walking. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.
Pat is lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Rosemary (Donald) Gardner; her two sons, Dan (Christine) Fojtik and Andrew Fojtik; 10 grandchildren: Catherine, Christopher, Sarah, Mary, Crystal, Kevin, Ashley, Donald Jr., Misty, and Samantha; 13 great-grandchildren; and her brother, John Hierholzer.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Fojtik; and her great-grandson, Kaleb Iverson.
The Funeral Service for Pat will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Aaron Vergin officiating. Visitation will be held the evening prior on Monday, June 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, as well as one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
