Patsy Goldberg Obituary

Patsy Dean Goldberg, age 87 of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. She was born on September 22, 1937, in Caruthersville, MO, to the late Ernest Paul and Blanche Itell (Latimer) Baird. The family lived in Caruthersville, MO, until moving to Grand Haven in 1952.

Patsy was married to John Robert Goldberg, Jr., for 38 years. Together, they raised two children, instilling a love for nature in them both. Early on, she spent many days growing and canning vegetables for her family with their friends, the Benes’. Patsy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, the happiest at home watching classic westerns or Perry Mason. She delighted in observing the birds and squirrels at her feeders and counting the wildlife wandering through her yard. She looked forward to her daily cup of coffee and seemed to believe it could never be too hot. Her family has enjoyed and carried on some of her traditional dishes like cheese potatoes and her coleslaw.

In her younger years, Patsy enjoyed spending evenings at the Bingo Hall and Starlight Lanes where she bowled on a league and many cherished memories were created. Above all, she treasured the moments spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always welcoming them with open arms and a warm smile.

Patsy will be deeply missed by her family and friends, whose lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, and sense of humor.

A Memorial Celebration for Patsy will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Holland or a charity of your choosing.

Her feisty spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those that loved her. Patsy is survived by her daughter, Jackie (George) Morse of Grand Haven; her son, John Robert Goldberg III. of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; four grandchildren: Stephanie (Mike) Chan, Jolene (William) Caldwell, John Robert (Samantha) Goldberg IV, Zack Morse; five great-grandchildren: Kai Lin, Jin, Autumn, Mary, and William; two sisters, Pam (George) Underhill and Paula Montgomery; brother-in-law, Terry (Sue) Goldberg and their children Mike and Jake; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John; her daughter-in-law, Patti-Jo Goldberg; her sister, Peggy Bobeldyk; and brothers-in-law, John Montgomery and Wally Bobeldyk.
