Patricia “Patti” Lynn Vredeveld, age 58 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at home, with her family by her side. She was born on July 22, 1962 in Holland, MI to Lester and Leona (Wiersema) Vereeke. Patti married Craig Vredeveld on January 26, 1991 in Grand Haven.
Patti graduated from West Ottawa High School and then Grand Valley State University. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for Grand Haven Area Public Schools for 23 years, and was affectionately known as, “Mamma V” to the kids in her specific classroom and the school.
Patti loved camping, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. She loved children and helping people, always putting others before herself. Patti was a big fan of all the high school sports; football, basketball, but wrestling was her favorite. She was a big influence on those she served, excelling at teaching her students with special needs and helping coach the Special Olympic Teams. Patti leaves cherished memories with her family and her G.H.A.P.S. family.
Patti is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 30 years, Craig Vredeveld of Grand Haven; her three loving daughters, Alison (Jeremy) Kanouse, Amanda Vredeveld, and Leslie (Noah) Witte, all of Grand Haven; three beloved grandchildren, Autumn and Guage Kanouse, and Liam Witte; her mother, Leona Vereeke of Holland; sisters: Janice (Ken) Aalderink, Kathleen Adair, Nancy (Tom) VanLiere, and Barbara Otten; brother, Jerry Vereeke; brother-in-law, Jeff (Jennifer) Vredeveld; sister-in-law, Lori (Joe) Carskadon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Vereeke; brother, Richard Vereeke, and her parents-in-law, Theodore and Jodean Vredeveld.
A Celebration of Life for Patti will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorial Contributions may be made to Grand Haven High School in honor of Mama V to support what she was passionate about: GH Wrestling, the Greenhouse, the Food Pantry and individual students needs.
