Ora William Richert, Jr., of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, January 25, 2025. He was 89 years old. Ora, also known as "Boots" by friends and family, was born on May 9, 1935, to Ora and Mary (Foreman) Richert, Sr., in New Albany, Indiana.
From a young age, Ora had an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong work ethic, and he became a successful businessman. Aside from being industrious, he had a passion for farming, fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his friends. He enjoyed many Las Vegas adventures with his late wife, Theresa. Every Labor Day weekend, he delighted in attending the annual Richert family reunion in Indiana. He was a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Ora is survived by his daughters: Renee (Scott) Narrol, Rhonda Doerr, and Lora Lee Melcher; son, Robyn (Donna) Richert; brothers, George Richert and Roger Richert; sisters, Claudia (Dennis) Holmes and Patricia Larrabee; 10 beloved grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theresa, whom he was married to for 57 years; his parents; infant son, Rodney; granddaughter, Nora Marie Doerr; brother, Dale Richert; and several cherished in-laws.
The Funeral Service for Ora will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Grand Haven. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the church. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
