Nika Danigelis, age 88, of Roosevelt Park, MI, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born on May 1, 1937, in Detroit, MI, to Spero and Stella (Burgams) Zervos. She was a Muskegon resident most of her life. Nika's journey through life was shared by her beloved husband, Peter Danigelis, whom she married on July 31, 1955. Together, they created a legacy of love and a family.
In every aspect of her life, Nika embodied the qualities of a truly wonderful person. Her loving nature made her a pillar of strength for her family, and her kindness touched the hearts of friends and strangers alike. Hers was a life well-lived, full of moments that will be remembered and stories that will be retold with smiles and warmth. Nika was a true patriot, deeply devoted to her country and its ideals. Her integrity and Christian principles were seen in all her daily actions and involvements in her community.
Nika gave her heart and her attention to family, first and foremost. Many fun years were spent on road trips, traveling, and at the beach every summer. Nika's commitment to her community was evident through her dedicated volunteering as a Boy Scouts Den Mother, Girl Scouts Leader, and classroom mother. In addition, she always extended a welcomeness to her home to all extended family and friends.
As a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Nika was a very active member and involved in several church organizations. She was a Sunday School teacher for 10 years, a Maids of Athena girls organization supervisor for 10 years, and member (and also held office) of the Daughters of Penelope Women's Auxiliary group since 1955.
Nika loved to travel, cook, entertain, read, ride her bicycle, and go for walks. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and loved ones.
Nika's memory is honored by her four children: Tina (Wayne) Pickler, Gregory (Wendy) Danigelis, Elena Danigelis, and Elizabeth Danigelis; her grandson, Aaron (Brandi) Danigelis; sister, Sandra (John) Canaras; sisters-in-law: Anne Zervos, Mary Danigelis, Azucena Danigelis; several nieces and nephews; and goddaughter, Becky Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter Danigelis; brother, George Zervos; her niece, Noemi Danigelis; and brothers in law, Deno and John Danigelis.
The Funeral Service for Nika will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (185 E. Pontaluna Rd., Muskegon, MI 49444), with Fr. Joseph Gingrich officiating. Dormition Divine Liturgy will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the church. Interment will be at Norton Cemetery in Muskegon.
Memorial Contributions in Nika's name may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or Harbor Hospice-Leila and Cyrus Poppen Residence.
