Naomi May (Thomas) Sumner

Naomi May Sumner, age 72 of Muskegon, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at home. She was born on July 1, 1948 in Detroit, MI to the late Edmund and Anne (Miller) Thomas. Naomi married Michael William Sumner on March 19, 1966 in Detroit.

Naomi graduated from Cooley High School and enjoyed being a stay at home mother to her three children. Naomi loved to cook, read, and watch crime shows and the “Royal Family." She also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, and loved her cat, Maci, and her dog, Sheldon.

Naomi is lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 54 years, Michael Sumner; her two daughters, Lisa (Timothy) LaFrance of Grand Haven and Amy (Paul) Bilicki of West Olive; her son, James (Deanna) Sumner of Algonac, MI; four grandchildren, Griffin, Ethan, Aidan, and Delaney; and several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Anne Thomas.

Due to concerns regarding COVID-19, a Celebration of Life for Naomi will be held and announced at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
