Nancy Jo Senkowicz, age 74, of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at home, after complications of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) she suffered for many years. She was born on December 10, 1950, in Detroit, MI, to Fred and Lucille (Besancon) Juergens.
Nancy grew up in the Detroit area while spending many summers in East Tawas, MI. She attended Redford High School before furthering her education at Ferris State University where she studied social work and met her husband, John Senkowicz. They were married on September 11, 1971, in Livonia, MI.
After college, Nancy and John moved back to the Detroit area and raised their family in Southfield and Birmingham, Michigan. Nancy worked in the mental health field for many years, after being a stay-at-home mother during her daughters’ early years. She and her family moved to the greater Lansing area for a short time before moving and settling in Grand Haven.
Nancy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake for many years. She was a very loving and caring mother who enjoyed being an active and supportive parent of her girls’ competitive swimming events in their childhood years, and she enjoyed shopping with her daughters before her disability made outings too difficult for her. Nancy also enjoyed reading, especially books written by her favorite author, Danielle Steele, and spending time with her family.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered and missed by her beloved husband of 53 years, John; her three daughters: Amy (Sam) Mesleh of Macomb, MI, Lesley (Troy) Daniels of Baldwin, MI, and Laura (Mike) Trotter of Spring Lake, MI; grandsons, Ryker and Daren Trotter; her mother, Lucille Jensen; brothers, Brian (Kirsti) Juergens of Grosse Pointe, MI, and Fred Juergens of Tawas City, MI; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Robert) Wysocki of Houston, TX.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Juergens; and brother, Daniel Juergens.
Although the MS slowly progressed over the years, Nancy always showed mental strength, love, and friendship to family and anyone she met. The comfort in her passing is that she is now in the arms of our loving God.
The Funeral Mass for Nancy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. William Vander Werff officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Rosary recital beginning at 7:45 p.m. Burial will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Contributions in honor of Nancy be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
