Nancy Lee Brosseit, age 84 of Spring Lake, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at a local care facility. She was born on April 11, 1937 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Mynard and Agatha (Schipper) VanderZaag. Nancy married Arthur Brosseit on July 10, 1971 in Grand Rapids, MI.
After graduating from high school, Nancy worked at the telephone company, and later became the head secretary at Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids. In 1971, she moved to Grand Haven and for several years, her and Art owned and operated the Brosseit Home Decorating Store. Nancy loved the Lord, and spent many years singing in the choir and teaching on Wednesday nights for Awana Club at First Baptist Church, Spring Lake. She had many talents; country painting, design, and hand-making quilts were where her artistic skills were really put to good use.
Nancy is so loved and greatly missed by her husband of 49 years, Art; her daughter, Denise (David) Spencer; and son, Steve Otzman, both of Muskegon; her two step-sons, Bruce and Jon Brosseit, both of Spring Lake; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brother, Rev. Robert VanderZaag.
She was preceded in death by sister, Lois Henry.
Having Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease, Nancy was very limited, physically, for many years. As she often said, “I look forward to running through the gates of Heaven.”
The Funeral Service for Nancy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Spring Lake, with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Masks and Social Distancing will be required. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
