Michael “Mike” Francis Reau, age 68, of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at home, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 1, 1958, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Donald and Kathleen (Ellis) Reau. Mike married Mary Ochs on June 8, 1991, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Parish in Grand Haven.
Mike graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1976 and worked for Consumers Energy for 43 years before his retirement in 2023. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Parish for many years and was a member of the North Ottawa Rod and Gun Club in Grand Haven where he enjoyed skeet shooting.
Mike was passionate about the importance of the work done by the American Red Cross. He began donating blood as a young man and continued donating for years. His total contribution was 18 gallons of blood, undoubtedly, helping many in our community.
Mike loved a good cup of coffee more than just about anything and was always ready to grind some beans and brew a fresh pot for family and friends. He was a wonderful cook, and homemade pizzas were his specialty.
Mike loved collecting wristwatches and pocket-watches. He was also a Lionel Train collector and enthusiast who really enjoyed antiquing with Mary; it was one of their favorite things to do together. Mike was a loyal Detroit Tigers baseball fan and especially loved watching his sons play baseball and playing catch with them. He also loved watching and feeding the birds from his feeders at home, with hummingbirds being his favorite bird.
Mike was one a kind, the truest example of a good man. He could fix anything and always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He was loved by everyone, and he devoted his entire life to taking care of his family.
Mike will be forever remembered and missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Mary; and their two sons, Carson Reau (significant other, Anna Post), and Parker Reau; his beloved granddaughter, Emryee Noelle, (“Nutmeg,” as Mike would call her); his father-in-law, Jerry Ochs; two sisters, Danielle (Norm) Palmquist and Michele Kozicki; sister-in-law, Lieschen Ochs; aunt, Suzanne First; and nieces and nephews: Laurie (Tony) Pease, Sara Wasson (significant other, Chris MacPherson), Adam (Beth Ann) Kozicki, Joshua (Sarah) Kozicki , and Nicholas Abdou.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Judith Ochs; and brother-in-law, David Kozicki.
The Funeral Mass for Mike will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at St. Patrick Church of St. Patrick - St. Anthony Parish, with Fr. Dan Schumaker officiating. Visitation will be held the evening prior to the service on Thursday, June 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery.
