Michael Edward Oosterbaan

Michael Edward Oosterbaan, age 78, of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Harbor Hospice - Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. He was born in December of 1946, in Holland, MI to Jacob and Evelyn (Boonstra) Oosterbaan. Mike married the love of his life, Sandra VandeWater, in September of 1968, in Holland, MI.

Mike graduated from Holland High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering from Michigan State University. Prior to his retirement, Mike spent a 30 plus year career at Herman Miller where he packed in many projects over the years.

Mike loved to travel, including to Hawaii and Europe, and he spent many years going to Florida in the winter months. He was a loyal Spartans fan and avid reader who loved to play a round of golf with his work buddies, and he especially enjoyed playing in his golf leagues. Mike will be remembered with love for his dedication to family, kindness, and sense of humor.

Mike will be forever remembered and missed by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Oosterbaan; his two children, Scott (Tara) Oosterbaan and Lori (Jim) Burke; four grandchildren: Turner and Abby Oosterbaan, Kate and Margaret Burke; sister, Jane (Steven) Baldwin; niece, Kristy Baldwin (David Schiffmiller) and their son, Leo; and his nephew, Ryan Baldwin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private graveside service for Mike will take place at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
