Michael John Keevan, age 69, of Grand Haven, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 13, 2022, at his home. He was born on April 8, 1953 in Pontiac, MI to John and Kathryn (Jones) Keevan.
Mike graduated from Lansing Sexton High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University. He had a long-time career teaching and coaching tenure as the boys and girls swimming and diving coach at DeWitt High School. Mike was recognized by many coaching associations, including the Michigan Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association Coach of the Year four times. He was inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2008. Mike retired from DeWitt High School in 2009 after 33 years of service. Following retirement, he continued coaching and officiating swim teams, and was a substitute teacher in area schools.
Mike was an avid Michigan State Fan, and he loved being at the beach and driving around in his convertible. Family was very important to Mike, and he had a special bond with his grandson Jackson.
Mike will be forever remembered and missed by his beloved son, Matthew & Rachel (Woodard) Keevan of Spring Lake; his grandson, Jackson Keevan of Spring Lake; his sister, Kathee (Tom) Pascoe of Rochester Hills; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kathryn Keevan; his wife, Nancy Keevan; and his brother, Jim Keevan.
A Memorial Visitation to Celebrate Mike’s Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.
