Michael Duarte, age 75 of Grand Haven, formerly of Muskegon, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. He was born on September 11, 1948, in Muskegon, MI, to the late Florencio and Rose (Shaganaby) Duarte. Mike married Carol Micko on April 24, 1976, in Muskegon, MI, and she preceded him in death on May 25, 2011, after 35 years of marriage.
Mike was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Spring Lake for many years. He was a Tribal citizen of Little River Band of Ottawa where he was very involved in the Native American community. Mike and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the state to many pow wows where Mike would perform traditional dances. Mike loved to ride his motorcycle and enjoyed traveling and camping with groups of friends..
Mike is forever remembered and missed by his three brothers: Ted, Richard, and Ernest Duarte; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Mary Corcz; and sister-in-law, Catherine Duarte.
A Visitation for Mike will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with closing prayer at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Muskegon, at a later date.
