Mary Anne Morrissey, age 84, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on January 8, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Arieus and Delphine Croteau.
Mary Anne attended Western Michigan University, where she earned her degree in teaching. She married the love of her life, Michael James Morrissey, in 1963, and together they raised their family in White Lake, Michigan. Their home on Sandy Crest Drive was filled with love and laughter—not only from their own children, but from neighborhood children who were always welcomed and embraced.
She retired from Waterford Schools, where she dedicated her career to teaching Special Education, serving as a true advocate for children throughout her entire life. After retirement, Mary Anne and Michael spent 15 years in Florida before returning to Michigan and settling in Grand Haven.
Mary Anne is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Michael; and their three children: Michael (Brooke Stevens) Morrissey, Michelle (David) Maitner, and Mark (Haej Kim) Morrissey. She was a devoted grandmother to Alexandria (Stephen) Seirant, Zachary Morrissey, Joshua (Megan) Morrissey, Luke Morrissey, Emma Morrissey, Eliza Maitner, and Makayla Maitner. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Wilder and Sawyer Seirant.
Mary Anne is also survived by her sister, Margaret Pritchard; and her brothers, Joseph (Patricia) Croteau and Jerry Croteau. She was deeply loved by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, lifelong friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Joan Croteau.
The beloved matriarch of the family, Mary Anne, leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that will live on in all who knew and loved her.
