Mary (Jannenga) Postmus

Mary Postmus, age 81, of Spring Lake, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on October 26, 1943, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Joel and Genevieve (VerHoek) Jannenga. Mary married George Postmus on August 26, 2000.

Mary was a long-time employee of Shape Corporation working as the Human Resource Manager during their rapid growth and expansion worldwide. She worked hard to select the best employees, and yes, sometime fired employees, and was often referred to respectfully as “the hatchet lady." A kind and loving woman, mother, and wife. She shall be missed by many!

Mary leaves behind her husband of 24 years, George; daughter, Jody (Craig) Heskett and her children, John (Kristy) Drake and his children, and Justin (Lauren) Drake and his children; daughter, Jessica Rust and her son, Joey; son, Brad (Anna Rita) Hettinga and their children, Giulia and Sophia Hettinga; step-children, Barton Postmus and Andrea (Travis) Phillips; her sister, Nancy (Steve) Smart; brothers, David (Deb) Jannenga and Mark (Jean) Jannenga; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Carol (Petey) Marod.

The Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan.
