Mary Ann (Meeuwsen) Crum

Mary Ann Crum, age 93 of Grand Haven, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was born on April 5, 1930 in Holland, MI, the daughter of the late John and Josie (Van Weele) Meeuwsen. Mary graduated from Zeeland High School and then met and married the love of her life, Henry “Hank” Crum on January 4, 1949 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2021 after 72 years of marriage. 

Mary worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Christian Haven Home, and later, worked for North Ottawa Community Hospital for many years. Mary grew up in Rusk Christian Reformed Church in Allendale, and was a lifelong member of First Christian Reformed Church of Grand Haven.

Mary enjoyed bird watching and taking walks with her husband, and liked to spend time gardening and mowing the lawn with her push mower. She always looked forward to her many travels and annual fishing trips to Rice Lake, Canada. Mary loved her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow into young adults. She was very fond of the holidays where the entire family would gather and enjoy her outstanding cooking and baked goods.

Mary will be lovingly remembered and missed by her three sons: David (Mary) Crum, Ron Crum, and Steve (Donna) Crum; her daughter, Renee (Kent) Roberts; daughter-in-law, Leigh Sneller; many grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Janice (Jay) Kuntz; and two sisters-in-law, both Barb Meeuwsen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank; her son, Marc Crum; three brothers: Ron, Jerry, and Earl Meeuwsen; and her sister, Ruth Wiebenga.

The Memorial Service for Mary will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at First Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Arthur Van Wolde officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Grand Haven Christian School or Love in Action of the Tri-Cities.
